ESPAÑOL MISION Our fundamental mission is to contribute to open society’s practices in Puerto Rico and its diasporas through creativity and free expression through literature. We work for the internationalization of Puerto Rican culture through the creation of open spaces for dialogues among our diverse communities of readers and writers. Therefore, our main goals are: Diversification of readership Open access to books, education and culture Mentorship in personal and professional development Transfer of knowledge Connections to community Changing of narratives about race, social inequities, ethnicity and gender Support of creative entrepreneurship VISION We believe literature and the arts transform society by supporting new, more inclusive visions about the world we live in. We view literature as a tool for creating empathy among diverse individuals and therefore, for supporting dialogue and social transformation. We offer marginalized communities access to books, creative writing workshops, and visits of reknown authors to support spaces for the exchange of ideas and the transferal of knowledge. Through these dialogues and exchanges, el Salón Literario Libroamérica supports the growth of analysis, creativity, free expression and an open society.
